Dr Jayawardena graduated from Rostov State Medical University in 2001 and undertook his postgraduate training in London. He worked as a specialist in General Adult Psychiatry since 2014, after working as a Senior Psychiatrist from 2009. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer for the University of Glasgow and a Final Year OSCE examiner for the University of Edinburgh’s Medical School. He is a junior and senior doctor trainer and appraiser. He has completed a Medical Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH, London) and is an accredited member of the European Society of Hypnosis. He was elected as the President of the British Society of Medical and Dental Hypnosis in April 2022. He has been promoting Clinical Hypnosis within the Psychiatric community and has been actively involved in teaching other doctors and medical students.
